Elucidating evolutionarily conserved mechanisms of diapause regulation using an in silico approach

نویسندگان

چکیده

Embryonic diapause is an enigmatic phenomenon that appears in diverse species. Although regulatory mechanisms have been established, there much to be discovered. Herein, we made the first comprehensive attempt elucidate using a computational approach. We found transcription factors unique promoters of genes From pathway analysis and STRING PPI networks, signaling pathways regulated by these were identified. The then consolidated into model combine various known regulation. This work also highlighted certain may act as ‘master factors’ regulate phenomenon. Promoter further suggested evidence for independent evolution some elements involved diapause.

Evolutionarily conserved glucocorticoid regulation of corticotropin-releasing factor expression.

Glucocorticoids (GCs) exert feedback regulation on corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) neurons in mammals. The nature of GC actions is cell-type specific, being either inhibitory (e.g. paraventricular nucleus) or stimulatory (e.g. amygdala and bed nucleus of the stria terminalis). Nothing is known about differential regulation of CRF gene expression by GCs in nonmammalian vertebrates. We studi...

In Silico Prediction of Evolutionarily Conserved GC-Rich Elements Associated with Antigenic Proteins of Plasmodium falciparum

The Plasmodium falciparum genome being AT-rich, the presence of GC-rich regions suggests functional significance. Evolution imposes selection pressure to retain functionally important coding and regulatory elements. Hence searching for evolutionarily conserved GC-rich, intergenic regions in an AT-rich genome will help in discovering new coding regions and regulatory elements. We have used eleva...

Circadian regulation of olfaction and an evolutionarily conserved, nontranscriptional marker in Caenorhabditis elegans.

Circadian clocks provide a temporal structure to processes from gene expression to behavior in organisms from all phyla. Most clocks are synchronized to the environment by alternations of light and dark. However, many organisms experience only muted daily environmental cycles due to their lightless spatial niches (e.g., caves or soil). This has led to speculation that they may dispense with the...

An Evolutionarily Conserved Role for the Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor in the Regulation of Movement

The BXD genetic reference population is a recombinant inbred panel descended from crosses between the C57BL/6 (B6) and DBA/2 (D2) strains of mice, which segregate for about 5 million sequence variants. Recently, some of these variants have been established with effects on general metabolic phenotypes such as glucose response and bone strength. Here we phenotype 43 BXD strains and observe they h...
